Boeing employees go on strike, and Ryanair's aircraft deliveries may be affected

Recently, more than 30,000 employees of Boeing in the United States began a strike on September 13 local time. This is the first strike at Boeing in 16 years, attracting widespread attention.

Michael O'Leary, CEO of Ryanair Group, said on September 14 local time that the strike by Boeing employees may have a significant impact on Ryanair. Ryanair is Europe's largest low-cost airline and one of Boeing's largest customers. Originally, Ryanair planned to receive 30 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft by next summer, but due to operational problems at Boeing, this number has been reduced to 25. Now that Boeing employees are on strike, if the strike lasts for 3 to 4 weeks, then Ryanair may only receive 20 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft by next summer. O'Leary also said that it may take two to three years for Boeing's production to get back on track.

It is reported that this strike by Boeing employees is due to dissatisfaction with the labor-management agreement. The latest labor-management agreement reached by Boeing and the "International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers" representing Boeing workers was not recognized by employees. On September 12, workers at Boeing's assembly plants in the Seattle and Portland areas voted on this labor-management agreement. 94.6% of the members voted against it. And in another strike vote, 96% of the members voted in favor, far exceeding the two-thirds strike threshold set by the union.

The strike by Boeing employees not only affects the number of aircraft deliveries but may also impact the US economy. US media said that the strike will basically bring Boeing's commercial aircraft production to a halt. If the strike lasts for a long time, nearly 10,000 Boeing suppliers in nearly all 50 US states may have problems.
