Recently, an ice cream shop in Tatabánya, Hungary has quickly become popular on social media due to its unconventional salty ice cream, and even attracted customers from all over the country to flock to it.

According to Agence France-Presse's report on the 28th, Robert, who runs this shop, initially launched ice creams in flavors of beer and potato pancakes. After attracting widespread attention, he boldly innovated. Not only did he incorporate traditional Hungarian dishes such as paprika chicken and cabbage stew into ice cream, but he also launched ice creams with the flavors of international dishes such as spaghetti bolognese and bacon and scrambled eggs. Robert emphasizes that these ice creams are not gimmicks but real flavors carefully blended by him. The price of his creative ice creams is 500 forints (about 10 yuan) per scoop.

Hungarian media "blikk.hu" reported that all salty ice creams are made from actual ingredients rather than relying on spices for flavoring. Customers' reactions to these novel flavors vary. Some people think that the taste of ice cream is very different from the expected sweetness and is more like a real dish experience and worth a try. But some people are not convinced. Customer Kiss said, "Just try it once. I won't come again." His son also thinks that "salty" ice cream is very strange. Some netizens criticized these novel flavors as "disgusting."

Despite the mixed reviews of the salty ice cream in Robert's shop, the store's turnover has increased three to four times. Robert's wife said that they need to continuously recruit new employees to meet customers' purchasing needs. Posts about the shop's ice cream on social media have some viewed tens of thousands of times and some even reaching millions of times. Robert plans to open a second store in the capital and is prepared to continue supplying these ice creams through the winter to continue meeting market demand. He said that this is not only a revolution in taste but also a challenge to the traditional concept of ice cream. He hopes to provide customers with a completely new gourmet experience.

The popularity of salty ice cream in Hungary undoubtedly brings new topics and thoughts to the food industry and also lets people see consumers' pursuit and exploration of unique and novel flavors.
