Oasis reunion tour tickets face difficulties in sales, and wrong information plagues fans

On August 31, 2024, ticket sales for the Oasis reunion tour got off to a rocky start. The British rock giants led by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher are planning 17 shows, their first in 15 years. The tour covers places like Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin. There are more than a million tickets on sale, starting at around £74.

However, online platforms are overwhelmed by the demand of hundreds of thousands of fans. Some people receive error messages when trying to access authorized sales websites, and many are told they are in a long queue. Some people managed to buy tickets in the Friday presale lottery, but just a few hours later, high-priced tickets appeared on resale websites. Oasis issued a warning saying that resale can only be done through authorized websites at face value.

Oasis was formed in Manchester in 1991 and is one of the major British bands of the 1990s with many hit songs. The band disbanded in 2009. Since then, the brothers have never performed together again, but they often sing Oasis songs in their individual shows and criticize each other in the media. For this reunion, the band said fans will experience a unique “spark and passion”.

The tour locations include famous stadiums in several cities, and ticket prices vary. The research director of a media consulting company said that the band is expected to earn a substantial income, but there is still a gap compared to tours by global superstars. Nowadays, artists mainly make money through live performances. Oasis is catching up with the trend in the live music market. The host cities are expected to get an economic boost. Especially Manchester, the band's hometown city, is filled with excitement.
