Venice Film Festival,Post-war epic film The Brutalist Architect premieres globally

From Venice, Italy, at the Venice Film Festival, a three-hour post-war epic film "The Brutalist Architect" held its global premiere. Presented on 70mm film and directed by Brady Corbet, the film is partly inspired by the late Jean-Louis Cohen's book "Architecture Under Uniforms."

The film tells the story of Laszlo Toth (played by Adrien Brody), a Holocaust survivor who pursues art in the United States after the war. His wife is played by Felicity Jones, and Guy Pearce plays wealthy industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren. Joe Alwyn and Alessandro Nivola also star in the film. Brody said he felt a connection to the role and story as his mother is a Hungarian immigrant with similar experiences to the character.

"The Brutalist Architect" is 215 minutes long with a 15-minute intermission. Presented on 70mm film and shot in Vista Vision, it comes to Venice with high expectations. There were rumors of "a masterpiece" even before the screening, but reviews will be released after the red carpet premiere. For a film that has not yet been released in the United States, presenting it in 70mm format seems like a bold statement. Due to the high production cost, only a few people like Christopher Nolan and Denis Villeneuve usually use it. Corbet spent seven years making this film and he thinks discussions about the film's length are "silly."

In 2018, Corbet brought his controversial film "Vox Lux" to Venice. He also thanked the Venice Film Festival for its support, saying that when no one supports these films, the festival makes his films possible. "The Brutalist Architect" is screened in the festival's competition section. At this time, the festival is in full swing.
