On September 1 local time, Canada's Via Rail confirmed that a passenger train operating between Montreal, Quebec and Quebec City, the provincial capital, encountered a breakdown, causing passengers to be stranded for up to 10 hours.

It is reported that the passenger train stopped running after two consecutive mechanical failures on the same day. And there were no available buses in the incident area at that time to provide alternative transportation methods, which left the passengers on the train in a long wait. Many passengers were anxious and helpless in the carriage, and their original itineraries were seriously disrupted.

In response, Via Rail reacted quickly, apologized to passengers and promised full refunds to affected passengers. Canadian Transport Minister Pablo Rodriguez also said on social media on the same day that he will meet with the company's leadership to fully find out the cause of the train delay.

This incident has attracted widespread attention. The rights and interests of many passengers have been affected, and it has also had a certain impact on local transportation. Relevant departments said they will solve the problem as soon as possible and restore normal traffic order. At the same time, they will also strengthen prevention and response measures for similar incidents to ensure the safety and smoothness of passengers' travel. The public is looking forward to the follow-up investigation results and corresponding improvement measures to avoid the recurrence of such incidents.
