Media reports on August 12 stated that during the procurement and tendering stages, the organizers of the Paris Olympics had already listed 6 million Olympic items and marked the terms requiring suppliers to give them a "second life". To implement the "reuse strategy", the organizers also hired "circular economy experts" to handle this matter. Currently, among a total of 6 million Olympic items, 90% will be reused, among which 14,000 mattresses made of recycled plastic from the Olympic Village will be donated to the French army.

These mattresses provided a comfortable sleeping environment for athletes during the Olympics and will continue to be useful after being donated to the French army. In addition, the ultra-fine sand used for beach volleyball in front of the Eiffel Tower was promised to a club in Paris; the javelins and shot put used at the Stade de France, as well as the tennis balls used by Novak Djokovic, will all be donated to relevant institutions.

After the Paris Paralympic Games, the Paris Organizing Committee will also hold auctions in multiple places in France. Items including volunteer clothing, athlete towels, and flags used in the award ceremonies will all be auctioned, giving the public the opportunity to retain physical memories of the Paris Olympics.
