Recently, in a letter to the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) strongly demanded that the other party carry out "comprehensive and thorough" rectification for the many deficiencies in anti-doping work for a long time.

WADA pointed out in the letter that 90% of athletes in the United States, especially college athletes and professional league athletes, are not protected by an anti-doping system with international standards. Foreign college athletes training in the United States are even called "taking a doping holiday", which may lead to unfair competition in international competitions such as the Olympics. Even for athletes included in the international anti-doping system, the number of inspections by USADA every year is seriously insufficient.

In addition, USADA also uses obtaining intelligence as a reason to allow athletes with serious doping violations to continue to participate in competitions, win medals and obtain bonuses in the identity of an "undercover". This clearly violates the "World Anti-Doping Code". At the same time, WADA said that the National Collegiate Athletic Association and professional leagues in the United States are not governed by the "World Anti-Doping Code", and the anti-doping supervision of athletes under them is "far below the internationally recognized standard". And a large number of top athletes come from the American university system. This situation is worrying.

Not only that, WADA pointed out that the small number of doping tests in the United States indicates its weak supervision. Compared with countries such as France, China, and the United Kingdom, the inspection efforts in the United States are obviously weak. And under the condition of its own insufficient anti-doping efforts, USADA also tries to make American athletes suspect the integrity of foreign compe***s and even illegally allow known violators to continue to participate in competitions in exchange for intelligence. What is more serious is that through cooperation with law enforcement agencies in Europe and other regions, WADA found that the United States is a huge doping sales and distribution market. This is not only a problem in the sports circle, but also a social problem.

In view of all these problems, at the request of 32 anti-doping agencies from countries and regions in Europe, Africa and Asia, WADA officially asked USADA to rectify its own problems to maintain a fair and just sports competition environment. This incident has attracted widespread attention in the international sports community, and all parties are looking forward to the follow-up rectification measures and actions of the US Anti-Doping Agency.
