Putin: Solving the Palestinian issue must implement the relevant UN resolutions.

On August 13, 2024, during a meeting with visiting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Novo-Ogaryovo, Moscow Region, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that solving the Palestinian issue must implement the relevant UN resolutions, first and foremost the resolution to establish the State of Palestine.

During the meeting, Putin pointed out that Russia is deeply concerned about the humanitarian disaster unfolding in Palestine. He emphasized that Russia has always advocated for a peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue, and the root of the problem is that the decisions regarding the establishment of an independent State of Palestine, which have long been passed by international organizations including the United Nations, "have been ignored". Russia reaffirmed that to ensure long-term stability and peace in the region, it is necessary to implement all UN resolutions, starting with the establishment of the State of Palestine.

Abbas said during the meeting, "We hope the Palestinian people can have their own country." He pointed out that since 1947, the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council have passed more than 1,000 resolutions related to the Palestinian issue, but due to the actions and pressure from the United States, not a single resolution ensuring the rights of the Palestinian people has been implemented.

According to TASS, Abbas arrived in Moscow on the 12th at the invitation of Putin.
