Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu dispatches delegation to attend Gaza ceasefire talks

On August 14 local time, the office of the Israeli prime minister issued a statement saying that Prime Minister Netanyahu has approved a delegation to travel to Doha, the capital of Qatar, on the 15th to participate in Gaza ceasefire talks and has approved the "negotiation authorization".

Members of the delegation dispatched by Israel this time include the director of the Israeli Intelligence and Special Operations Agency (Mossad), David Barnea, the head of the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), Ronan Bar, and the military representative of the Israel Defense Forces, Nitzan Alon.

However, Hamas said it will not participate in these ceasefire talks. Senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri said that if they participate in the talks, Israel will impose new ceasefire conditions and use the talks to carry out more massacres in the Gaza Strip. Hamas supports the ceasefire proposal received on July 2, based on the suggestions made by US President Joseph Biden and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and is ready to immediately discuss the mechanism for implementing this proposal.

Previously, the leaders of the United States, Qatar, and Egypt issued a joint statement on the evening of the 8th, calling on Israel and Hamas to resume talks in Doha or Cairo, the capital of Egypt, on the 15th to bridge all remaining differences and begin implementing the agreement. Israel said the next day that it agreed to restart the talks, but Hamas on the 11th demanded that the mediators formulate an implementation plan for the previous negotiation results and force Israel to implement it instead of holding more talks or proposing new plans.
