On August 14, 2024, a tragedy occurred in South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. A 74-year-old old woman did not return home after grazing her livestock and was missing overnight. The next day, her family members found the old woman's body in the grass not far from home. There were obvious python bite marks on the body, especially on the head and ankles.

After investigation, the police confirmed that the old woman was attacked and killed by a python about 4 meters long. The python had tried to swallow the old woman whole up to the shoulder position, but for some unknown reason gave up and spat her out.

The grief-stricken family members found this python near where the old woman's body was found and killed it to vent their grief and anger over the tragic death of their loved one.

Indonesia, as a tropical country, has rich biodiversity and a complex ecosystem. Pythons, although part of the ecosystem, usually do not actively attack humans, but under certain specific circumstances, they can still pose a threat to human life. This incident has attracted widespread attention and hot discussions in the local society.
