Venezuela Has Arrested 2,229 People Involved in Violent Incidents

On August 6th, Venezuelan President Maduro announced that since the end of July, 2,229 people have been arrested for participating in violent incidents during the protests initiated by the opposition in the country. Maduro said that the arrested people hurt innocent people and burned down public facilities such as hospitals and schools.

The Venezuelan National Electoral Council announced in the early hours of July 29th that the current president Maduro was re-elected as the president of Venezuela. After the election results were announced, demonstrations organized by the opposition occurred in many places in Venezuela and triggered violent incidents, causing casualties.
