Shooting incident in Kentucky, USA leaves 2 dead and 1 injured

According to ABC News, a shooting incident occurred in a parking lot near a court in Elizabethtown at around 9:00 on the same day. Local 37-year-old female resident Erica Riley died on the spot, and her 71-year-old mother was also pronounced dead after being sent to the hospital. A male relative of the mother and daughter is in stable condition.

The police said that the suspect, Christopher Elder, is 46 years old and is Erica Riley's boyfriend. According to court records, Elder was originally scheduled to appear in court at 9:00 on the same day for an emergency protective order hearing on a domestic violence case.

Elder fled the scene by car after committing the crime. The police found his vehicle on the highway and launched a pursuit. During the pursuit, Elder pointed a rifle at the police several times and then drove into a parking lot. After communicating with negotiators for about 90 minutes, Elder shot himself in the head and is in critical condition.

The Associated Press reported that after the shooting incident, schools near the court were "softly locked down." After the police determined that this was an isolated incident, the lockdown was lifted.
