According to the Serbian Ministry of the Interior, at around 5 am local time on August 22, a ship carrying illegal immigrants capsized on the Drina River located in Serbia while trying to cross Serbia to reach Bosnia and Herzegovina.
There were about 30 people on board. After the accident, the Serbian Ministry of the Interior immediately dispatched more than a dozen search and rescue personnel to conduct search work. As of around 16:00 on August 22, nine bodies were found in Serbia and one victim was found in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Eighteen people survived, and two others are still missing. Serbian Interior Minister Bratislav Gašić said that the identification of the victims is underway.
