On August 26, Tarcísio de Freitas, the governor of São Paulo state, Brazil, revealed that the economic losses caused by this large-scale fire in the state are likely to exceed 1 billion reais. It is reported that more than 30,000 hectares of vegetation were burned in the fire, many agricultural facilities and rural houses were destroyed, and a large number of livestock died and crops were damaged. Particularly regrettably, the sugarcane planting and sugar processing industries, which are the pillar industries of São Paulo state's agricultural economy, were severely hit in this fire.

With the joint efforts and cooperation of the army and the fire department, multiple open fires in São Paulo state were basically extinguished on the morning of August 26. However, the impact of this fire is far more than that. On August 25 and 26, the sky over Brasília, the capital of Brazil, was shrouded in fire smoke from São Paulo state, with extremely low visibility and a significant decline in air quality.

Since July this year, the incidence of agricultural and forest fires in regions such as the Amazon, Pant*** and southeastern Brazil has reached a record level. This fire in São Paulo state once again sounds an alarm for Brazil's ecological environment and economic development. The subsequent ecological restoration and economic reconstruction tasks are arduous. People from all walks of life are also calling for strengthening fire prevention measures to avoid the recurrence of similar disasters.
