Russian court announces detention of five new suspects in Moscow Region concert hall terrorist attack case

On August 29 local time, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow, Russia announced that five people including Gadoyev and Ismoilov suspected of being involved in the terrorist attack case at the concert hall in Moscow Region will be detained for trial until December 1, 2024. These five people are a new batch of suspects for whom the court has announced detention in this case.

On the evening of March 22 this year, a serious terrorist attack occurred at the Crocus City concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow. As of March 29, the concert hall terrorist attack has killed 144 people and injured 382 people. It is the most serious terrorist attack on Russian soil in recent years.

Previously, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow had approved the extension of the detention period for trial of many people suspected of being involved in the terrorist attack such as Yusufzoda and Lutfulloy for three months until November 22, 2024.

After the terrorist attack occurred, relevant Russian departments quickly launched investigations and pursuit operations, and successively captured and dealt with many suspects involved in accordance with the law. The detention of this new batch of suspects shows Russia's firm determination to combat terrorist crimes and maintain national security and social stability.
