Serbia and France sign multiple important agreements

On August 29, 2024, in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, a grand agreement signing ceremony was held between Serbia and France.

On that day, French President Macron flew to Serbia and began a two-day state visit. After he held talks with Serbian President Vučić, the two countries jointly witnessed the signing of more than ten agreements between the government and enterprises. These agreements cover a wide range of content and key fields such as civil nuclear energy, agriculture, and infrastructure construction.

Vučić emphasized at the press conference that the letter of intent on the development of civil nuclear energy in Serbia signed by both sides is of great significance. He pointed out that nuclear power plays a crucial role in ensuring Serbia's future power demand. Especially in the context of Serbia's plan to vigorously develop electric vehicles, nuclear energy will provide stable and sufficient power support for it.

It is worth mentioning that on the same day, the two countries also reached an agreement for Serbia to purchase 12 French Rafale fighter jets, with a total price of up to 2.7 billion euros. This agreement is of landmark significance, meaning that the Serbian army will be equipped with Western-made fighter jets for the first time.

Macron said that the signing of many agreements fully reflects France's strong support for Serbia's integration into Europe by strengthening economic, industrial and political ties. The multiple agreements signed between Serbia and France this time will undoubtedly inject strong impetus into cooperation between the two countries in related fields and promote their common development. At the same time, it will also have an important impact on the regional and even international stage, attracting widespread attention and expectations from all sectors.
