Recently, the helicopter disappearance incident on Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula has attracted much attention. On September 2, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations announced that the search and rescue operation for the missing Mi-8 helicopter on the Kamchatka Peninsula came to an end, and the bodies of all 22 victims were found, including 19 passengers and 3 crew members.

On the afternoon of August 31, the helicopter lost contact on the Kamchatka Peninsula. Subsequently, rescue forces launched a full-scale search and rescue. On September 1, rescuers found the wreckage of the helicopter on the Far East Kamchatka Peninsula and initially determined that there was no chance of survival for the 22 people on board. It is reported that this helicopter was originally planned to fly from the landing site near Vachka Volcano to the Nikolayevka settlement in Yelizovsky District. Shortly after taking off, it disappeared from the radar. Preliminary investigations suggest that the crash may have been caused by pilot error and hitting the volcano in low visibility.

The head of the Kamchatka Krai, Solodov, announced September 3 as a regional day of mourning. At present, departments such as the transportation procuratorate of the Kamchatka Krai are conducting in-depth investigations into the cause of the accident. The “Vityaz Aero” airline to which the crashed helicopter belongs was established in 2009. Its headquarters is located in the Kamchatka Krai. Its business covers providing transportation services for fishing companies, passenger transportation, sightseeing transportation, and serving commercial and private customers. This incident has brought great grief to the families of the victims and also had an impact on the local air transportation industry. All sectors of society expect relevant departments to find out the truth as soon as possible and take measures to prevent similar tragedies from happening again. At the same time, this incident once again sounds the alarm for aviation safety.
