Recently, an attack involving US soldiers has drawn attention in Turkey. According to ABC News on September 2, two US Marines were attacked by multiple people while visiting the port of Izmir, Turkey.

It is reported that the two US soldiers who were attacked are from the USS Wasp amphibious assault ship. At that time, they were in civilian clothes. Videos posted on social media show a group of anti-American protesters chanting the slogan "Yankees, go home!" and grabbing the arms and torsos of the US soldiers, and covering their heads with bags.

After the attack, the Turkish authorities took swift action. The office of the governor of Izmir Province stated that the attackers belonged to the Turkish Youth Union (TGB), which is linked to the nationalist Vatan Party. The police have detained all 15 suspects and launched a judicial investigation into the matter.

The US Embassy in Turkey also confirmed this incident on social media platforms and said that the Marines are safe. Sean Savitt, spokesman for the US National Security Council, expressed serious concern about this attack and thanked the Turkish authorities for their swift response and accountability actions.

Some reports say that the attack on US soldiers by these 15 people is an expression of dissatisfaction with the US support for Israel's military operations in the Gaza Strip of Palestine. In recent years, there have been differences and frictions between Turkey and the United States on some issues. This incident once again highlights the complex relationship between the two countries and has also attracted widespread attention from the international community. The follow-up development and the response measures of the US and Turkey are highly anticipated.
