On September 3 local time, former French prime minister Édouard Philippe officially announced that he will participate in the next French presidential election to be held in 2027.

Philippe has significant influence in French politics. He served as the prime minister of France from May 2017. During his tenure, he was responsible for implementing the government's reform plans. However, he also encountered many social crises, such as strikes by state-owned railway workers, the Yellow Vest movement, large-scale marches against pension system reform, and the raging COVID-19 pandemic. Despite numerous challenges, the Philippe government still introduced reform measures in multiple departments. On July 3, 2020, Philippe submitted his government's resignation to President Macron and it was approved.

Philippe has rich political experience. He has served as the director of public affairs at Areva Group, deputy mayor and mayor of Le Havre, and a member of the National Assembly. Public information shows that Philippe was born in Rouen, France in 1970 and graduated from Sciences Po Paris and the French National School of Administration.

When announcing his candidacy, Philippe emphasized the four major "dangers" that France must currently face, including "democratic", "fiscal", "stagnation" and "public order and security". He said he is ready to put forward propositions to the French people, and the French people will make the final decision.

Philippe has always maintained high popularity in polls. His decision to run for election undoubtedly adds new variables and attractions to the next French presidential election. The results of this election will have a profound impact on many aspects of France's political direction, economic policies and social development. All parties will also closely follow the subsequent development of the election situation and the dynamics of other candidates. The French people are looking forward to the candidates being able to put forward practical policy plans and lead France to a better future.
