On September 9 local time, the Argentine Ministry of Health released a report stating that the country has cumulatively confirmed 32 cases of monkeypox in 2024.

According to official statistics, since the first case of monkeypox emerged in May 2022, Argentina has cumulatively confirmed 1,181 cases, including two deaths. The development of the monkeypox epidemic in Argentina has attracted high attention from health departments and the public.

Monkeypox is a viral zoonotic disease. Its symptoms include fever, headache, muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, and rashes. Although some patients have mild symptoms, it still poses a certain threat to public health.

To deal with the monkeypox epidemic, the Argentine government has taken a series of prevention and control measures, including strengthening epidemic monitoring, improving detection capabilities, isolating and treating confirmed cases, and carrying out publicity and education to raise public awareness and prevention consciousness of monkeypox. At the same time, the health department is also actively cooperating with international organizations and other countries to share epidemic information and prevention and control experience.

The international community also remains concerned about the monkeypox epidemic in Argentina. Organizations such as the World Health Organization have been providing technical support and guidance to help Argentina better prevent and control the epidemic.

With the increase in global personnel mobility, the prevention and control situation of the monkeypox epidemic remains severe. Argentina will continue to strengthen prevention and control work, strive to curb the spread of the epidemic, and protect the health and safety of the people. The subsequent development of the epidemic and the response measures of the Argentine government will also receive continuous attention from all sectors.
