On September 9, Argentina's National Meteorological Service announced that due to the large amount of thick smoke generated by forest fires in neighboring Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay and its spread, smoke alerts have been issued for Argentina's capital Buenos Aires and 15 provinces.

It is reported that most of Brazil is currently covered by a layer of smoke with extremely low visibility. The smoke area has reached 5 million square kilometers, which is almost equivalent to 60% of Brazil's land area. The area of forest fires in Bolivia has exceeded 3.8 million hectares. The Bolivian government declared a national emergency on the 7th of this month.

The Argentine National Meteorological Service said that the smoke has reduced visibility in some areas to a minimum of 1,500 meters, bringing many inconveniences to people's normal work and life and may even affect the takeoff and landing of some flights. The meteorological service recommends that residents in the alerted areas avoid outdoor activities.

The thick smoke problem caused by forest fires in neighboring countries has attracted great attention from the Argentine government and relevant departments. Environmental protection organizations also call on all countries to strengthen the prevention and control and treatment of forest fires to avoid similar situations from having a serious impact on neighboring countries. In the follow-up, Argentina will continue to pay attention to the development of the smoke situation and take corresponding measures to minimize the harm to people's lives and the environment. Relevant departments will also strengthen communication and cooperation with neighboring countries to jointly deal with this cross-border environmental challenge. The international community is also closely watching this incident and hopes that through the efforts of all parties, the smoke problem can be resolved as soon as possible and the good environment and normal order of the region can be restored.
