Spanish police crack a large-scale drug case and seize millions of ecstasy pills, setting a new record

On September 10 local time, Spanish police announced significant results in a large-scale drug enforcement operation. The police carried out operations in the southern Spanish city of Malaga and the resort island of Ibiza and seized an astonishing amount of drugs. Among them, the number of ecstasy pills exceeded 1 million, setting a new record in Spain's drug enforcement history.

According to the police statement, in addition to seizing more than 1.07 million ecstasy pills, this operation also seized 73 kilograms of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (the main chemical component of ecstasy), 212 kilograms of ***, as well as a large amount of ***e, marijuana and other drugs. The amount involved exceeded 25 million euros. During the operation, a total of nine people were arrested. They are suspected of belonging to a large criminal gang. The gang "operates in different regions of Europe and is involved in smuggling drugs into Spain". The police suspect that this gang uses tampered cars to transport drugs. The police pointed out that the leaders of the gang are several Italians living on Ibiza Island, and traces of drugs such as ecstasy can often be found in multiple dance halls on the island.
