News on September 12, 2024. Mandalay Province of Myanmar has recently been hit by heavy rainfall, triggering serious floods. Currently, it has led to ten deaths and more than 50,000 people being affected.

According to the news released by the Myanmar Fire Department, the town of Yamethin in Mandalay Province is particularly severely affected. Floods and waterlogging have caused great distress to local residents. Heavy rainfall has submerged a large number of houses, and residents have had to urgently evacuate their homes. Many people have lost their residences and basic living supplies. Some infrastructure has also been severely damaged in the floods. Some roads have been washed away and bridges have collapsed, bringing great difficulties to rescue work.

Relevant departments quickly launched emergency rescue operations and made every effort to transfer and resettle the affected people. Rescue workers, driving tools such as assault boats, shuttled back and forth in the flooded areas, searched for trapped people and transferred them to safe places. At the same time, the government is also actively organizing the allocation of materials to provide basic living guarantees such as food, drinking water and temporary shelters for the affected people.

It is reported that this heavy rainfall is affected by Typhoon Capricorn. There has been continuous heavy rain across a wide range of Myanmar for several days. In addition to Mandalay Province, most areas and towns in Shan State, Kayin State, Naypyidaw and other places in Myanmar have also experienced serious floods. Roads, bridges and railway tracks in many places have been washed away and submerged by mountain torrents, seriously hindering people's travel. At present, the Myanmar government and all sectors of society are working together to deal with this serious natural disaster and strive to restore normal production and living order in the affected areas as soon as possible.
