On the morning of September 12 local time, a serious near-collision incident of passenger planes almost took place at the Nashville International Airport in Tennessee, the United States.

On that day, an Alaska Airlines passenger plane carrying 176 passengers and 6 crew members and scheduled to fly to Seattle had been approved to take off at the airport. However, at the same time, another Southwest Airlines passenger plane scheduled to fly to Jacksonville, Florida, was also approved to cross the end of the same runway. At the critical moment, the pilot of the Alaska Airlines plane keenly realized that a collision was about to happen on the runway and resolutely aborted the takeoff immediately, successfully avoiding a possible disaster. But due to the emergency braking, the tires of the passenger plane burst during this process.

After the incident, both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board of the United States said that they had quickly intervened and launched a comprehensive investigation into this incident. In recent years, similar "runway incursion" dangerous incidents have frequently occurred at American airports, triggering deep concerns about the safety of air travel in the United States. Just two days before this incident, that is, on September 10, a collision between two Delta Air Lines passenger planes while taxiing occurred at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the United States. In the on-site video, the tail of one of the passenger planes was hit and tilted to one side, almost breaking and falling off. These successive aviation safety incidents have undoubtedly sounded the alarm for aviation safety in the United States.
