Iran summons diplomats from Britain, France, Germany and the Netherlands to express strong protest

On September 12, 2024, the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned the heads of the British, French, German and Dutch embassies in Iran respectively to express strong protest against the relevant actions of these countries.

According to the Islamic Republic News Agency of Iran, during the summons on the same day, Ahmadabadi, director of the Western European Department of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, protested and strongly condemned the “destructive actions and remarks” of these four countries against Iran recently. He emphasized that any claim that Iran is selling ballistic missiles to Russia is “completely unfounded and wrong”. Ahmadabadi also reiterated Iran's clear stance of seeking a peaceful settlement of the conflict on the Ukraine issue.

Previously, on September 10, the United States imposed sanctions on multiple entities and individuals in Iran and Russia on the grounds that Iran was suspected of transferring missiles to Russia. The foreign ministers of Britain, France and Germany also issued statements on the same day, accusing Iran of being suspected of transferring missiles to Russia, and announced that they would cancel the bilateral air service agreement with Iran and also impose sanctions on Iran's national airline. In response, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Kanaani once expressed strong condemnation and claimed that Iran will take “appropriate” actions.

Iran's move to summon diplomats from Britain, France, Germany and the Netherlands this time shows Iran's dissatisfaction and firm opposition to the accusations and sanctions of these countries, and also makes this incident widely concerned by the international community.
