On September 13 local time, the International Court of Justice in The Hague, the United Nations, confirmed that the Embassy of Chile in the Netherlands has submitted written documents to the International Court of Justice and officially joined South Africa's "genocide" lawsuit against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

On December 29 last year, South Africa filed a lawsuit with the International Court of Justice, accusing Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip of constituting "genocide". On January 26 this year, the International Court of Justice issued "provisional measures", requiring Israel to take immediate action to prevent any act that may subject Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to genocide. In May this year, South Africa again accused Israel's "genocide" behavior in the Gaza Strip of "reaching a heinous new stage".

As early as June 1, Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font announced that Chile will participate in and support South Africa's litigation action. Boric emphasized the "catastrophic humanitarian situation" in the Gaza Strip and condemned the Israeli military for using "indiscriminate and disproportionate" force. Chile is one of the largest places of residence for people of Palestinian descent outside the Middle East. About 500,000 people of Palestinian descent have taken root in Chile and have achieved significant status in the business and political fields.

At present, many countries including Turkey, Nicaragua, Spain, Mexico, Libya, Colombia, Egypt, and Cuba have joined South Africa's litigation. This case has attracted widespread attention from the international community. The future development trend and the final judgment result of the International Court of Justice are full of uncertainties. The international community is also closely watching Israel's response and further changes in the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli region.
