Indian female doctor raped and killed in hospital, triggering large-scale protests and strikes in the industry

This strike action by doctors and medical workers aims to protest the rape and murder of a young doctor in a government hospital in Kolkata. On Friday, August 9 local time, the body of the 31-year-old female doctor was found in a government-run hospital in Kolata, with numerous signs of abuse on her body. This is where she worked as a resident doctor.

The autopsy results of the victim's body confirmed the acts of sexual assault and murder. Local police have arrested a man who worked at the same hospital and is related to this rape and murder case. According to local media, the man was responsible for guiding patients and others when there were long queues of patients in the hospital.

Through this protest, Indian doctors are strongly demanding fairer treatment and better security guarantees in the workplace. The large-scale protest that initially began in Kolkata has now spread to many other regions of the country.
