On August 14, according to international media reports, the network systems of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) and other banks have suffered a large-scale hacker attack, which is considered the most serious cyber attack in Iran's history.

Some sources indicate that hackers stole the information of account holders of Iran's largest bank and other banks. Israeli journalist Babak Itzhaki claimed that hackers obtained the banking details and credit card details of millions of Iranians. After the hacker attack, local people in Iran reported that they were unable to withdraw money and ATM machines displayed error messages.

This cyber attack occurred against the backdrop of tense situations in the Middle East and international pressure on Iran. Recently, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran, and Iran vowed to retaliate, while the leaders of Britain, France and Germany issued a joint statement warning Iran that it would "be held accountable" for its attacks against Israel.

It is worth noting that the last cyber attack on Iranian institutions occurred in December last year, when a large part of the country's gas stations were damaged due to a cyber attack.

Regarding this hacker attack on the banking system, the Central Bank of Iran issued a statement refuting, saying that the relevant reports by hostile media are rumors intended to prevent the decline of the exchange rate of the US dollar against the Iranian rial, and emphasizing that no banking system has suffered a hacker cyber attack. Currently, the specific circumstances and losses of the incident are still being evaluated, and the subsequent development remains to be observed. This incident has aroused great concern from all parties about Iran's cyber security and has also made the regional situation more tense and complex.
