Demonstrations outside the US Democratic Party convention lead to conflicts, and 67 people are arrested

The US Democratic National Convention entered its second day on August 20. Outside the venue, the crowd of demonstrators supporting Palestine had a fierce conflict with the police in downtown Chicago. According to US media reports, at least 67 people were arrested by the police that day.

That night, hundreds of pro-Palestine demonstrators gathered near the Israeli consulate in Chicago. They chanted slogans and strongly demanded that the United States stop supporting Israel in the Palestine-Israel conflict. During the protest, some demonstrators burned the American flag and then clashed with the police maintaining order.

On August 19, outside the venue of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, the United States, the police had already been on duty at the demonstration site supporting Palestine. USA Today quoted a spokesperson for the "National Lawyers Guild" as saying that at least 67 people were arrested on the evening of the 20th, including two journalists.

On the opening day of the Democratic National Convention on the 19th, thousands of demonstrators supporting Palestine marched outside the venue. Although this demonstration was permitted by the police in advance and a demonstration route was designated, some demonstrators still rushed out of the designated route and then clashed with the police. Thirteen people were arrested that day. On the 20th, the police installed safety barriers outside the cordon in key areas.
