On August 21, in the northwest of the Czech Republic, a factory found a leftover bomb from World War II on that day. The police took quick action and evacuated more than 500 people urgently.

Czech oil company Unipetrol announced on its website that the factory in the town of Litvínov accidentally discovered this leftover bomb from World War II during excavation work. Subsequently, the police and fire rescue personnel immediately rushed to the scene for investigation and evacuated nearby people.

The Czech police reported on social media in the evening that a total of 582 people were evacuated this time. According to the assessment of blasting experts, since this bomb weighs 250 kilograms and has an extremely high explosion risk, it will be left in place until the 27th. At present, the on-site crisis response team is studying the next action plan.

The police have closed the highway near the factory that connects the town of Litvínov and the nearby town of Most. And starting from that night, trams and trains between the two towns will also suspend operation.

According to the Czech News Agency, unexploded bombs left over from World War II have been found many times in the area where the town of Litvínov is located. In May 2021, a local chemical factory also found a leftover bomb from World War II. At that time, more than 5,400 people were evacuated.
