Around 5:45 local time on August 24, 2024, a tragic traffic accident occurred in Ansan City, Gyeonggi Province. A van collided with a bus when passing through an intersection.

The accident caused 5 deaths and 9 injuries, with one person seriously injured. According to the local fire department, the five people who died were all passengers on the van, three of whom were Chinese nationals and two were South Korean nationals.

Preliminary investigations by the South Korean police show that at the time of the accident, the van involved in the accident ran a red light and entered the intersection, thus colliding with the bus. The van involved belongs to a manpower enterprise in Dangeun District, Ansan City.
