A market in western Sudan was shelled, killing 20 civilians.
On August 26 local time, the El Fasher Resistance Committee, a local organization in Sudan, said that a market in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State in western Sudan, was shelled on the same day, killing 20 civilians and injuring 32 others.
The organization accused the Rapid Support Forces of Sudan of launching this attack, saying that the armed forces continuously shelled the urban area of El Fasher for more than an hour on the same day, and seven shells fell into a market, causing casualties. The Rapid Support Forces have not responded to this yet.
On April 15, 2023, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces erupted in an armed conflict in the capital Khartoum, and then spread to other regions. The armed conflict that has lasted for more than a year has killed about 19,000 people. Since mid-May this year, the conflicting parties have been continuously competing for the control of El Fasher.
