Voting for the new parliamentary elections is held in Azerbaijan

On September 1 local time, voting for the new session of the National Assembly elections in Azerbaijan was officially held.

On June 28 this year, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev ordered the dissolution of the parliament and advanced these parliamentary elections to September 1.

According to data released by the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan, there are a total of 125 domestic polling stations for this election. The voting time lasts from 8:00 to 19:00 local time on September 1. A total of 990 candidates are competing for 125 seats in the parliament, and there are about 6.42 million registered voters. To ensure the fairness and impartiality of the elections, about 112,000 domestic observers and 589 international observers are involved in supervising these elections.

According to the constitution of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani parliament is unicameral and is the highest legislative body in Azerbaijan. It is called the "National Assembly" and is composed of 125 members with a term of five years.
