On September 5, a distressing passenger ship capsizing accident occurred in a sea area of Rio Grande do Norte State in northeastern Brazil.

Around 12:50 on that day, a passenger ship suddenly capsized on its way back to the shore after a shallow-sea tour. After the accident, relevant rescue forces took swift action and made every effort to carry out search and rescue work. As of now, at least two tourists have been confirmed to have died unfortunately, and many others have been injured. The injured have been urgently sent to local hospitals for treatment.

At present, the cause of this accident is still under further investigation. Relevant departments in Brazil said they will find out the truth of the accident as soon as possible and give an account to the families of the victims and society.

The northeastern region of Brazil has a long coastline and abundant marine resources, and marine tourism activities are relatively frequent. However, similar ship capsizing accidents occur from time to time, posing a serious threat to people's lives and property safety. The occurrence of this accident once again sounds an alarm for local maritime traffic safety. Relevant departments said they will strengthen supervision over ship operations, strictly review the safety performance and passenger capacity of ships, and ensure the travel safety of tourists. At the same time, it is also reminded that when choosing marine tourism projects, tourists should enhance safety awareness, choose regular and qualified ships, and follow the instructions and arrangements of staff. All sectors of society are also closely following the follow-up handling of the accident, hoping that similar tragedies will not be repeated.
