On the afternoon of September 6 local time, the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents of the Brazilian Air Force released a preliminary investigation report on the accident in which a Vopas Airlines passenger plane crashed last month, resulting in 62 fatalities.

The report shows that although the crashed passenger plane is certified to fly in icing conditions and the crew also has relevant flight experience, before takeoff, the crew had obtained meteorological information and knew that the flight would fly in severe icing conditions, but they did not declare an emergency state. Eventually, the plane lost control in an icing state and crashed.

Previously, the transcription of the data from the cockpit voice recorder of the crashed plane showed that the total recording time was about two hours. Shortly after takeoff, the pilot mentioned that there was a malfunction in the fuselage system. A few minutes before the crash, the co-pilot clearly said "there is a lot of ice." The Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents of the Brazilian Air Force said that the area where the plane passed through had high air humidity and a temperature below 0 degrees Celsius, and severe icing on the wings was likely to occur.

On August 9, this passenger plane flying from Cascavel in southern Paraná State to Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo crashed in Vinedo, São Paulo State. All 62 people on board were killed. This preliminary investigation result has laid the foundation for a more in-depth and detailed investigation later.

Aviation safety is of utmost importance. This accident has brought great grief to the families of the victims and also drawn high attention from the global aviation community. Relevant Brazilian departments said they will continue to conduct in-depth investigations to determine the final cause of the accident as soon as possible and give a clear explanation to the public. All parties are also continuously following the progress and final result of the follow-up investigation, expecting to learn lessons from it and further improve aviation safety levels to avoid similar tragedies from happening again.
