All seven occupants were killed in the crash of a small plane in Chile

On August 9, 2024 local time, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Chile issued a notice stating that a light aircraft crashed in the Aysén Region in the south of the country on the same day, and all seven people on board were killed.

The plane lost contact with the ground shortly after taking off in the morning of the same day, and the General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Chile immediately launched a search. Search and rescue personnel found the crashed plane in the mountainous area of the Aysén Region in the afternoon of the same day. The pilot and six passengers on board had all unfortunately died.

According to Chilean media reports, the local prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident. The crash site of the plane is in the heart of the Patagonia region, where the local weather conditions are harsh and complex and changeable.

The plane crashed on its way from Coihaique Airport in Chile to the southern city of Chico. The local government of Aysén, Chile, said that it has coordinated with the regional Disaster Risk Management Committee and various relevant departments to carry out the aftermath of the accident, including medical services, handling the scene, and collecting evidence. The Prosecutor's Office of the Aysén Region stated that a criminal investigation will be conducted into the accident to determine the cause of the plane crash.

The specific cause of this accident is still under further investigation.
