On August 9, 2024 local time, the US Department of Defense released a statement announcing an additional security assistance package valued at an estimated 125 million US dollars for Ukraine to meet Ukraine's critical security and defense needs. The assistance will include Stinger missiles, ammunition, multi-mission radars, and anti-tank weapons, etc.

This is the 63rd time the US Department of Defense has provided military equipment from its inventory to Ukraine since February 2022. So far, the total amount of US aid to Ukraine has reached 55.6 billion US dollars. The US Department of Defense said that the weapons in the latest assistance package will be provided from existing US inventories.

The announcement of this military aid plan comes at a time of tension in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The United States has always been a major supporter of Ukraine, helping Ukraine confront Russia by providing military assistance, intelligence support, and political solidarity. Regarding the US's military aid plan this time, the Russian side has not yet responded.
