According to a report by Russian Satellite News Agency on August 10, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that in the early hours of August 10, a Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber used odab-500 bombs to strike the Ukrainian army's active forces and weapons and equipment in the border area of Kursk Oblast.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that odab-500 aviation bombs with universal gliding and correction modules were used to strike pre-reconnoitered targets. After receiving confirmation from intelligence personnel that the targets were destroyed, the crew safely returned to the departure airfield. The Russian Ministry of Defense also released a video showing the Su-34 taking off, dropping bombs and hitting the target, as well as returning to the airport.

The odab-500 bomb is commonly known as a "thermobaric bomb". It is a two-stroke bomb. After activation, it first releases the explosive liquid components that form an aerosol cloud, and then is largely detonated, resulting in a high-temperature explosion with a powerful shock wave. The shock wave will "pour into" trenches, bunkers and other fortifications, thereby eliminating the enemy. Each Su-34 can carry four such bombs.

According to another report by Russian media, since the start of hostilities in the direction of Kursk, the enemy has lost 945 soldiers and 102 armored vehicles, including 12 tanks. The Russian Ministry of Defense also said that it had thwarted attempts by multiple mobile groups of the Ukrainian army to break through deep into Russian territory in several areas within Kursk Oblast and killed 15 commanders of the 22nd Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian army using the Iskander missile in the border area of Kursk Oblast. Since the start of the battle in the direction of Kursk, the Ukrainian army has lost a total of 1,120 people and 140 pieces of weapons and equipment, including 22 tanks and 20 armored personnel carriers.

The Ukrainian side claimed that it had controlled at least three settlements in the Kursk Oblast of Russia. Ukrainian President Zelensky said that Ukraine is proving its ability to exert "pressure" on the Russian side, but neither he nor the Ukrainian military detailed the latest situation of the Ukrainian army's offensive inside Russia.

The actions and remarks of the various parties involved in this Russia-Ukraine conflict are influenced by multiple factors, and the situation may change at any time.
