On August 23 local time, data released by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief of Bangladesh showed that floods occurred in 11 regions of the country, affecting about 4.4 million people and causing at least 13 deaths.

Floods and landslides have caused extensive damage to residential areas, crops, roads and more. The government has urgently launched rescue operations, distributed relief supplies and established shelters.

Bangladesh is located in South Asia. It has a low-lying terrain and more than 230 rivers. From June to September every year is the monsoon rainy season. Natural disasters such as floods, landslides and mudslides caused by heavy rainfall occur frequently.
